NEW BEDFORD -- ABC Disposal of New Bedford has announced Daniel Carignan as its newest regional sales representative for the Bristol County area as well as Rhode Island. Teaming with sales representative Paul Pimental, they will cover the entire Southeastern area. Citizens Bank South Shore Regional President John J. O'Connor III and Commercial Banking Officer Kristin Carvalho stopped by the YMCA of Greater New Bedford recently to help boost the fiscal health the 129-year old community institution with the first installment of a $15,000 donation, which they presented to the YMCA of Greater New Bedford Director Gary Schuyler and board member John Musser II.

NEW BEDFORD -- James M. Doherty of J.M. Doherty Insurance Agency Inc. has completed a Society Of Certified Insurance Counselors program to meet the CIC annual continuing education requirement.
Mr. Doherty is a member of the New Bedford Exchange Club and serves on various professional and civic boards. He resides in the Town of Mattapoisett with his wife Mary Jane Rimmer-Doherty.
APPLETON, Wis. -- Robert Giger, of Lakeville, will be honored at a national sales and education conference sponsored by Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL). Giger will attend AAL'S Executive Conference East, March 24-29, in Amelia Island, Fla.
Giger qualified to attend the conference based on excellence in sales and service to AAL members.
WAREHAM -- Kent Pearce, owner of Kent's Welding & Radiator has been selected to receive the Sam Walton Business Leader Award, sponsored by the Wal-Mart Foundation. Pearce was chosen as the award recipient by the Cape Cod Canal Regional Chamber of Commerce, which received a $500 grant in the honoree's name.
SEATTLE, WASH. -- American Seafoods Company recently hired Glenn Llopis to head the sales and marketing efforts for ASC's Frionor USA Inc.
NEW BEDFORD -- Frionor Usa, Inc.--a marketer of seafood products, has promoted Michael Luiz to director of food service sales. Luiz will be responsible for national sales to food service distributors and large volume operators in five regions. He has been with Frionor USA for 13 years.
Luiz has a bachelor of science degree in health services administration from Providence College in Rhode Island. He is an associate member of Health Food Management association and lives in New Bedford with his wife and two children.
FALL RIVER -- John R. Ledwidge, president of St. Anne's Credit Union of Fall River has announced the appointment of Larry Miranda as a loan origination specialist for Greater Fall River.
Miranda has an MBA in accounting from Babson College. He resides, with his family, in Tiverton, R.I.
NEW BEDFORD -- The Greater New Bedford Salvation Army announced the formation of a development committee to raise funds for a planned building restoration and improvements drive.
Charles Tavares of Com/Electric will co-chair the committee. Members also include Steve Beauregard, Ashley Insurance; Robert Caron, retired; Dennis Cabral, John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Co.; Denise Napier, Citizens Bank of Mass; Retired Fire Chief Henry Openshaw; Julie Silva, Whaling City Employment Agency; and John Anjos and Major Douglas Jones of the Salvation.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Susan L. Dick has been named executive vice president and director of client services for BankBoston's Private Bank for Rhode Island, Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod, and Florida.
Ms. Dick most recently was director of BankBoston's Private Bank in Florida.
BRIDGEWATER -- Glenn Miller of Raynham, professor of Geography at Bridgewater State College, has been elected as the New England & St. Lawrence Valley Regional Councilor to the Executive Committee of the Association of American Geographers.
He recently completed a study for the Plymouth County Development Council on the impact of the Old Colony Commuter Rail Service on southeastern Massachusetts.
FALL RIVER -- Michelle L. Loranger, formerly the New Bedford Area Resource Coordinator for the Department of Social Services, became St. Vincent's Quality Assurance Administrator in March.
"St. Vincent's is an organization that is willing to change. That's what attracted me to this position," Ms. Loranger said. "It is an agency that continually looks at the needs of the community and its purchasers, and it's willing to make changes and initiate programs to better serve children and families."
Ms. Loranger lives in North Dartmouth with her two children, Hilary, 6, and Kyle, 4.
