Lucille I. Thibeault
NEW BEDFORD -- Lucille I. (Hebert) Thibeault, 83, of New Bedford, died Thursday, March 5, 1998 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Theodore and Nellie (LaPalme) Thibeault.
She was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
She formerly worked for Strand Leather Goods and was a housekeeper. She was a member of the May Nichols Circle and served as grand officer. She enjoyed line dancing and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Conrad T. Thibeault of New Bedford; two granddaughters, Lisa A. Thibeault and Deborah A. Medeiros, both of New Bedford; a grandson, Michael A. Thibeault of New York; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Armande Hebert and George Hebert.

Linda L. Gregory
KINGSTON, R.I. -- Linda L. Gregory, 49, of Fortin Road, formerly of Fall River, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998.
Born in Newark, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Florence (Pierson) Easton. She had lived many years in Fall River before moving to Rhode Island three years ago.
She was co-owner and president of the Gamz Store in the Little Rest Common in Kingston. Besides the store, she had worked for five years in the blood component laboratory of the Dana Farber Institute in Boston. She also worked at the Rhode Island Blood Center, and for 12 years in the lab at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Gregory was a graduate of St. Elizabeth's High School in Convent Station, N.J. She attended Northeastern University. She received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, graduating first in her class. She also earned a master of arts degree in psychology from the same university.
She was a published poet and accomplished artist, an active participant in the Fall River Salvation Army Thanksgiving Day and Christmas food basket, and clothing drives. She was also a generous contributor to the Johnnycake Center and the South Kingstown dog pound. She was a member of the South Kingstown C.O.C. and also sponsored a Little League baseball team and the URI crew team and various social and civic events and programs.
She was a former member of the National Association of Laboratory Technicians, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and the Fall River Historical Society.
Survivors include two sons, Erick Hunter Rothausen of Newington, Conn., and Gregory Pierson Rothausen of North Kingstown; a sister, Joan Cooling; and a longtime companion, Jamey Morcom of South Kingstown.

Viola A. Clemishaw, 95
WAREHAM -- Viola Alzeda (Maxim) Clemishaw, 95, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Forestview Nursing Home after a long illness. She was the widow of Walter E. Clemishaw and daughter of the late Charles and Lizzie (Wallen) Maxim.
Mrs. Clemishaw was born in Middleboro and lived in Wareham before moving to Rochester more than 64 years ago. She was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting and tending to plants and flowers.
Survivors include three sons, Wallace E. Clemishaw and Charles W. Clemishaw, both of Wareham, and Walter E. Clemishaw Jr. of Leek City, Texas; four daughters, Esther Peltola of Middleboro, Alice Meier of Monument Beach, Phyllis LeConte of S. Berwick, Maine, and Florence MacPherson of Spokane, Wash.; a brother, Hosea Maxim of S. Middleboro; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Stott, Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham, which is handling the arrangements.
Maria da Conceicao Melo
NEW BEDFORD -- Maria da Conceicao (Sousa) Melo, 83, of Hathaway Road, formerly of Fall River, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998. She was the widow of Joao S. Melo and daughter of the late Jose Sousa Pimental and the late Maria dos Anjos (Viveiros) Sousa Pimental.
Born in Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores, she lived in New Bedford since 1991 and previously in Fall River for many years.
She worked as a machine operator at the Shelbourne Shirt Co. until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Michael Parish.
Survivors include three sons, Miguel S. Melo of Fall River and Augustine S. Melo and Jose S. Melo, both of Swansea; two daughters, Margaret Medeiros of Swansea and Gilda Correia of Fall River; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Fernando S. Melo.

Angelina Medeiros
NEW BEDFORD -- Angelina (Simas) Medeiros, 89, of Main Street, Fairhaven, formerly of Sconticut Neck, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the widow of James Medeiros and daughter of the late Angelo and Maria Simas.
Born in New Bedford, Mrs. Medeiros lived in Fairhaven for the past 41 years and was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Fairhaven.
Mrs. Medeiros had worked for many years as a stitcher for Varsity Sportswear and the Maidwell Overall Co.
Mrs. Medeiros was a member of the Fairhaven Senior Citizens and a former member of the Friendly Harbor Adult Day Care. She was an avid knitter and accomplished crocheter who enjoyed her grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Leonard J. Medeiros of Fairhaven and Alvaro Medeiros of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Fairlawn Mortuary of Sullivan-Waring, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven, which is handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Medeiros' first name was incorrect in Thursday's obituary.
John Ventura
NEW BEDFORD -- John J. Ventura, 27, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 4, 1998. He was the husband of Carolyn S. (Metivier) Ventura and son of John D. Ventura of South Dartmouth and Gail A. Fish of New Bedford.
Mr. Ventura was born in New Bedford and lived in the area all his life. He was a communicant of St. James Church and worked at Cliftex Corp as a presser. He was a member of the Y.M.C.A.
Survivors include his widow; his parents; two sons, John A. Ventura and Ernest Krebs of New Bedford; a step-daughter, Ashley Metivier of New Bedford; two half-brothers, Jacob Ventura and Jeremy Ventura, of South Dartmouth; his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Marjorie Fish of North Dartmouth; his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary (Camacho) Ventura of New Bedford; and several uncles and aunts.
His graveside funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Cemetery, Jacinto Street gate.

David A. Correia
TAUNTON -- David Alan Correia, 49, died unexpectedly Monday, March 2, 1998, at Morton Hospital. He was the former husband of Maria D. Souza and son of Manuel and Evangeline (Arruda) Correia of South Dartmouth
Mr. Correia was born in New Bedford and was an active member of St. Mary Church in Padanaram. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a residential supervisor for the state Department of Mental Retardation.
Besides his parents, survivors include two daughters, Lori Ann Paczosa of Rochester and Vicki Ann Correia of New Bedford; two brothers, Manuel Correia Jr. of Florida and Jeffrey Correia of Dartmouth; three sisters, Sandra Perry of Dartmouth, Susan Correia of New Bedford and Sharon Correia of Florida; a granddaughter; and a close friend, Stephen A. Nunes of Taunton.
A funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Church, Dartmouth.
Arrangements are by the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., New Bedford.
Mr. Correia's middle name was incorrect in Thursday's obituary.
Donald Heap
FALL RIVER -- Donald Heap, 61, of Middle Street, died at home Thursday, March 5, 1998, after a short illness. He was the husband of Beverly A. (Coppinger) Heap and son of the late James D.B. and Emily (Briggs) Heap.
Born in Fall River, Mr. Heap lived in the city most of his life.
He was a 1954 graduate of Diman Regional Vocational-Technical High School, and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Tiverton, R.I.
He was a custodian for the Truesdale Clinic for more than a year before illness led him to retire. His previous employment included 14 years in the maintenance department of Dover Parkersburg.
Mr. Heap was an Army veteran.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating and fishing.
Survivors include his widow; a son, Donald Furtado of Fall River; a sister, Doris LaRue of Derby, Conn.; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Heap was the brother of the late James Heap, John Heap, Russell Heap and Raymond Heap.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Brayton Road, Tiverton.

Manuel M. Carvalho
FALL RIVER -- Manuel M. Carvalho, 82, of Alden Street died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Olivia (Borges) Carvalho and son of the late Joao and Mary Rego.
Born on Sao Miguel, Azores, he lived there 44 years before immigrating to Fall River in 1960.
A union laborer employed by various companies for 12 years, he retired in 1972 and was a member of the Laborers Union Local 610.
Mr. Carvalho was a parishioner Espirito Santo Church.
Survivors include his widow; a sister, Mary Teresa Pavao of Sao Miguel; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Manuel A. Carvalho, who died in January.

Antonio De Amaral
NEWPORT, R.I. -- Antonio De Amaral, 81, of Newport, died Thursday, March 5, 1998, at Newport Hospital. He was the widower of Almerida De Amaral, and son of the late Miguel and Jacinta (Luiz) Farraz.
Mr. De Amaral was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, and came to the United States in 1966.
He worked as a stone mason for various contractors in the Newport area, and was a communicant of Newport's Jesus Saviour Church.
Survivors include two sons, Manuel De Amaral of New Bedford, and Antonino De Amaral of Middletown, R.I.; two sisters, Mary Jo Torres of Montreal, Canada, and Almerida Caetano of Fairhaven; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
His funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Jesus Saviour Church.
Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 275 Broadway.
